Message from Morecambe Bay Partnership : September 2017

I‘m just sending out a quick reminder to local heritage groups about our
forthcoming Heritage Skills Day  in case anyone from your group wold like
to attend. These are free training courses we are offering to any heritage
volunteers or  local heritage organisations in the Bay area. I don‘t know
if your group ever gives guided tours or is thinking of doing so in future?
If so there may be top tips to be had or the chance to refresh and update
your knowledge.
Further details are here along with a link to book should you wish to pass
it on.

 Christmas Concert
K shoes Male Voice Choir (Kendal)

St James’ Church, Heysham  : Friday 5th December 7.30 p.m.

Proceeds in aid of St Peter’s Roof Fund and Heysham Heritage Association

The event was very well supported and appreciated; nearly £700 was raised for which both organizations are most grateful. The HHA Chairman writes

5th December 2014 was a special day for the Association. The K Shoes male voice Choir gave a splendid concert of Christmas music and old favourites at St. James's church to raise funds towards the Heritage Associatioin and St. Peter's roof appeal. .
A particularly noteworthy inclusion were the solos by Ederic Ibbotson, whose wonderful practical help for the Heritage Centre is already very much appreciated.
The amount raised was split 50/50 between the Association and the church. The venue was packed for the event, and I am sure that everyone enjoyed themselves, despite the dark, cold night.

David Collins

On August 21st 2014 we welcomed Martin and Margaret Burgess at the Centre. In 2013 Martin had presented HHA with the ship’s bell from S V Vanadis which was wrecked off Heysham in 1903. His father had found the bell on the shore at Knott End and completely refurbished it. For more details please refer to the  Vanadis page.
