Welcome to the start of a new season

This year we held the pre-season gathering for members and volunteers at the Centre. Pictured left is Chairman, David Collins, presenting Marion Smith with a token of our gratitude for the contribution she has made to the running of the Centre (although Marion is stepping down from her role in managing the shop takings, she will still be volunteering regularly at the Centre.
Heysham Head Display
As well as being a pleasant  get together, the evening provided an opportunity to view the new displays of memorabilia from Heysham head (kindly donated by Mr Barry Hart).

The Centre will now be open most Mondays from 11am until 1pm.

Fairy Frolics in Heysham

Jumbo Post Card
A copy of an old post card is now  available from the Centre, showing Greese Cottage being taken over by fairy folk! This was produced long before Photoshop! It is also likely that we will have reproductions of some of the Heysham Head posters available later in the season.
Bay Craft Collective Poster
Following last year's successful craft fairs, crafters from the Bay Craft Collective set up their stalls again over the Easter weekend. Although the weather wasn't great, there were plenty of visitors, especially on the Sunday, when over 100 people came to the Centre.

The next Craft Fair will be over the bank holiday weekend at the end of May (26th - 28th). There will also be crafts on sale at the Viking Weekend (21st & 22nd July) and August bank holiday (25th - 27th).

Website Updates

Association stalwart John Holding does sterling work in updating the website - the updates are often brought about by questions from members of the public, promoting John to reasearch their query. Links to the latest updates can always be found at the top of the home page.

The Cottage Garden

Volunteers from East Gate Gardeners have been working hard to restore the garden behind the Heritage Centre. The paving and trellis painting is going well and a few of the perennials have started to flower. If anyone has any traditional garden furniture that they no longer require, please email Shan Hargest. The garden should be ready for visitors later this year, though we can't give a date yet. Help from Heritage Centre volunteers and from Bay Craft Collective has been really useful.
